Breathing is one of the most important aspects of vocalizing. It affects all areas of singing and can greatly affect the quality and tone of your voice. Breathing is one of the most essential vocal skills to master and one of the easiest to perform incorrectly. Fortunately if you have developed some improper breathing skills there are simple measures to take which will allow you to correct these bad habits and use proper breathing to improve your singing voice and achieve greater vocal skills.
The first step in correcting poor breathing habits is to assess the breathing habits you currently have. Do you breathe into your chest or into your belly? The answer to this question will tell you what kind of breathing you practice and how you may need to correct for any poor habits.
